During this phase of lock down due to Corona Virus when safety measures need to be taken and limited movement is required BBC has taken a step for day to day education programs to help students for their studies. Videos, quizzes, podcasts, and articles will be shown on various BBC channels like BBC Bitesize daily via BBC player, red button, BBC Four and BBC sound starting from April 20.
The presenters who will be the part of this online program includes Oti Mabuse, Katie Thistleton and Karim Zeroual, who will present the children’s lesson.
Tony Hall, the Directory of BBC has referred this program as one of the best program. He added this program will be set as a milestone for BBC’s educational endeavor.
This program is designed for every student based in UK for their education so the corporation along with Royal Shakespeare Company, premier League and Puffin Books has done working on this program to get maximum output out of it.
The program will require 14 weeks curriculum to provide “rhythm and routine” to students, regardless of their age. The Education secretary Gavin William shared his experience regarding School at home concept, ” To encourage students to study at home online while they don’t need to go to their schools is quite a task for the parents”. He said, BBC has done remarkable job by working with various teachers and experts to promote this educational package.
The Secretary of Culture division Mr. “Oliver Dowden” in his statement acknowledge, ” when all the educational institutions are closed across the country, we are making the best use of the public service broadcasting and this will make a huge difference to children”.
He added that he is delighted by the work and enthusiasm shown, and therefore BBC is tremendously helping the Government by taking this initiative. The content of studies will be divided depending upon the age of students. BBC Bitesize will conduct online classes on daily basis with different and new pattern for English and Maths.
After taking considerations from different teachers and institutions like Twinkle and White Rose Maths, The department of education in England, The Welsh Government, Scottish Government and Northern Ireland Executive, the lessons will be designed in such a way that this program works flawlessly.
