On Friday, President Trump signed on an executive order that main focus on promoting skills-based hiring for federal jobs.

On Friday, Trump said during a meeting with American Workforce Policy Advisory Board that I am going to sign on an executive order today that directs the federal government to replace outdated degree-based hiring with skills-based hiring. Further, the federal government will not be focused on your degrees but now onwards you will get jobs as per your skills and talent.

In addition, Trump said that for a long time the administration has been making decisions on merit but now it all depends on your skills and talent.

An adviser who co-chairs the board to President Ivanka Trump said that the government should have to allow EO to better recognize the talents and competencies of all Americans it hires.

The first daughter said during the meeting with reporters, The main aim of the executive order is to modernize the federal recruitment process. To focus on the candidates’ skills through assessments and interviews instead of prioritizing candidates with degrees and sometimes it can be not related to the job.

The senior administration official said during the call, that we will only hire those who effort to study and those who could not afford to attend the college. This hiring process will not only prioritize those who don’t have any degree, but we will also prioritize those who have a degree. We will give a chance to those who couldn’t afford to go to college.

According to data from U.S. News that In U.S. total public colleges were $10,116 but the total private colleges were in the U.S $36,801 and it was the average cost of tuition for the school year 2019-2020.  So, this number is higher at many top colleges for out-of-state students. According to an October 2019 Congressional Research Service report, the federal government gives more opportunities to U.S workers rather than any other American institution. So, the federal government hires more than 2 million employees. Though the federal government changed its hiring process largely.

The senior administration official added that college degrees are necessary for some working fields like medical jobs but for the federal worker’s degrees are not as much needed.

The official said that sometimes the government prioritizes those applicants who have a degree even though that degree is related to that job or not. Degree holders just to get the job because they have authentic degrees and also have college experience.

He concluded that now we have changed the rule of prioritizing assessments over degrees and to hire a workforce with new ideas. We should have to change our idea that only degree holders can get a good job.

Since mid of March, more than 45 million people are jobless and as of April, the unemployment rate has reached more than 14% in the U.S.
