Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande appeared at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards tonight (August 30), while performing their collaborative song “Rain on Me” for the first time.
After Gaga played “911” on set along with a bunch of Chromatica dancers saying them (and she said “Let me change real quick”), Grande took the stage and sang with her. She then played Stupid Love, partly on a brain piano, and encouraged fans to hide. Watch the two women take the VMA stage in masks below.
Both Gaga and Ariana lead the group in nominations tonight; Each won nine awards. Rain on Me won Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Best Cinematography. Ariana also won the best home music video award for her video “Stuck With U” starring Justin Bieber, while Gaga took home the Artist of the Year awards and a new Tricon award. See the full list of winners here.
Rain on Me is featured on Lady Gag’s new album Chromatica.
