‘The Batman’ shoot halted after positive COVID-19 test on sets

The Batman

Batman is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. Produced by DC Films and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is a reboot of the Batman film franchise. The film is directed by Matt Reeves, who wrote the script with Peter Craig. Portrayed by Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman, with Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Barry Keoghan, Jayme Lawson, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell completing the cast. Batman takes place during Batman’s second year of fighting crime and follows him as he explores Gotham City’s corruption and takes on the Riddler, a puzzle-obsessed serial killer.

A person on the production of “The Batman” tested positive for COVID-19 and filming in the UK has been temporarily suspended.

A Warner Bros. spokesman said Thursday that the individual is isolating himself according to established protocols.

Robert Pattinson plays the masked crusader in director Matt Reeves’ new film that resumed filming a few days ago after a nearly six-month hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was one of the first major productions to resume in the UK with improved security and spacing measures.

Hollywood slowly and cautiously returned to work around the world in the COVID era. “Jurassic World: Dominion” is another major Hollywood production that recently rebooted in the UK, at Pinewood Studios on the outskirts of London. And other blockbuster movies have been shot around the world, including Disney’s “Avatar” in New Zealand. Each country has its own set of security protocols and guidelines.

Regardless of how eager people are to get back on set, uncertainty hangs over safety, liability, and public relations issues in case someone gets sick. The New York Times reported in August that some members of Universal’s “Jurassic World” crew had tested positive, had been quarantined and none had become seriously ill.

“The Batman” also had a problem with the coronavirus in March. Andrew Jack, a famous dialect coach and actor who worked on the film before the lockdown, contracted the coronavirus and died. At the time Reeves tweeted that they were “heartbroken.”

“The Batman” was originally supposed to hit theaters in June 2021, but it was postponed until October due to delays. The cast includes Zoë Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Paul Dano.
