Bill Gates says meetings with Epstein was a ‘huge mistake’

Bill Gates described his relationship with the ex-convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, as a “big mistake” in a television interview that aired just days after his divorce from ex-wife Melinda French Gates

Bill Gates described his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein as a “big mistake” in a television interview just days after his divorce from ex-wife Melinda French Gates.

Gates said in an interview with CNN on Wednesday that he regretted meeting a prominent hedge fund manager who was found dead in prison in August 2019 after New York federal prosecutors charged him with sex trafficking and child abuse. Epstein, one of the underage girls, committed suicide and was hanged.

Ten years ago, Epstein was registered as a sex offender as part of a controversial deal with a Miami prosecutor to avoid federal charges.

Epstein was convicted of soliciting prostitution from a minor when Gates began dating her years ago.

The billionaire philanthropist said the meetings were driven by his desire to raise money for global health issues.

Bill Gates says meetings with Epstein was a ‘huge mistake’:

“I had lunch with him several times,” Gates said in an interview with CNN. It ended when it seemed unreal.

Gates will not comment in the Wall Street Journal about his role in the divorce from his relationship with Epstein to CNN.

In 2019, The New York Times reported that Gates had spoken to Epstein multiple times since 2011, including three times in New York.

Court documents show that Bill and Melinda Gates’ 27-year marriage officially ended on Monday.

After the couple announced their separation in May, suspicious behavior emerged about Bill Gates, including his relationship with a Microsoft employee nearly 20 years ago and a long-running sexual harassment lawsuit against a wealth manager.

Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates have spent more than $50 billion on global public health initiatives over the past 20 years, establishing one of the largest and most influential private charities in the world.

They said they would work together at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for a two-year probationary period following the divorce. If the amendment fails, French Gates will step down as co-chairman and trustee and focus on his Bill Gates-funded philanthropic efforts.
