But maybe it was Iowa?

Okay, maybe not. Not yet.

But this time next year, this August series will begin here.

With a few legal details to be worked out, the plan calls for the Cubs and Reds to play at Dreams Field on Thursday, August 11, rest on Friday, and then complete a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday. Cincinnati, sources said.

Both teams’ schedules for 2022 indicate that August 11 is a day off, but a source said it will be back with the opening of the series scheduled for Friday.

A day before last week’s Sox-Yankees game in Dyersville, Cubs manager David Ross cried that Cubs would be part of next year’s game – trying to take a quick step back.

The next day, during pre-match talks with the media, baseball commissioner Rob Manfred confirmed the league’s intention to return to a one-time theoretical event in 2022.

“It’s clear we’ll be back next year and we’ll have to talk about that later,” Manfred said. “But it’s been so successful that it’s hard not to miss the opportunity to do it again.”
